 About Dr. Wendy Hodsdon
Portland Alternative Medicine, LLC
Dr. Hodsdon is a licensed, primary care physician practicing in Portland, Oregon. She is a graduate of the National College of Natural Medicine – the oldest Naturopathic School in the country. During her training, Dr. Hodsdon was awarded honors for her research on energy medicine and a certificate in Shiatsu massage.
While in school, Dr. Hodsdon mastered a variety of ways to see and work with subtle, energy bodies. Cranial Sacral therapy has further enhanced those skills, and patients benefit from a doctor working with energy medicine and science together.
Blending science and energy medicine gives Dr. Hodsdon a unique perspective on managing health complaints. She treats a wide variety of conditions (click for a list of conditions) with an understanding of how the physical body and energetic body interact and connect.
Research Background:
Dr. Hodsdon’s work on how Reiki Affects the Immune System earned her Honors in Research from the National College of Natural Medicine. She was invited to speak at the American Association of Naturopathic Physician Convention concerning The Effects of Reiki on Immune Function and Heart Rate Variability.
Currently, Dr. Hodsdon is the Chairperson on the Institutional Review Board for the National College of Natural Medicine (NCNM) where she reviews research studies from Helfgott Research Institute, NCNM clinics and other institutions doing alternative medicine research.
Before becoming a Naturopathic Doctor, Dr. Hodsdon did research at various institutions around the world. In Uganda, Dr. Hodsdon managed a research laboratory looking at the immune system in patients with HIV and tuberculosis. Before that, research in Denver, Colorado focused on how certain immune cells matured in the body.
Dr. Hodsdon is an author on seven scientific articles indexed in PubMed and is still actively involved in clinical research projects involving alternative medicine. Her most recent study was comparing different methods for doing food allergy testing. The results from that study should be published by February, 2008.
